Why are my tetras not schooling? Tetra fish is school when they identify the danger around them. Neon tetras are found in the rivers where the water body is constantly moving. The water condition is not suitable for the scholars. Therefore, the Tetra swim alone in different directions, making them stay individual when kept in the fish tank.

How many Congo tetra make a school?

The aquarium with plenty of space in the fish tank makes the Congo Tetra school in the water. There should be a minimum of 5 to 8 tetras to form a group. 

Conga tetras stay calm in a peaceful environment. If there is no other fish in the tank, they will enjoy the exclusivity in the water and enjoy their swim in the fish tank.

The predator will think twice before attacking a large number of angry fish moving in their direction. 

Some scientists also believe swimming close to each other reduces the water’s friction and saves more energy. Fish can swim for several hours in the school without needing to consume food. 

Additionally, the school of fish protects the eggs from predators as the enemies would have difficulty finding the exact location. 

The eggs disappear instantly while moving to give a new generation of fish to thrive.

More than 25% of the world’s fish breed follows the schooling method in their lifetime. The schooling fish spend more time together while changing the location in search of the food. Smaller fish generally move in the School as they easily target the various species found in the water.  

Some fish are born with the knowledge of schooling, so they are always found in the large school. 

They do this to stay close to their species, which allows them to find the food easily. Piranha forms a school when they want to attack their target. 

The schooling helps them to damage the target effectively and get the food.

The fish’s egg gets sufficient time to reach the sea bed before the predator eats it. A large number of fish in the group scare the predator and put them away.
